I'm surprised I have never taken a photo of Porcellino before. He's quite a handsome fellow, especially without the vandalism.
Day 211 - Cricket World Cup - India vs. Pakistan

Today I was going to cover the Colour Me Educated Paint Drop even at the SLC and I passed by the Great Hall. The World Cup Semi-Final match with India vs. Pakistan was being watched and it was absolutely crazy. I have never seen so many people gathered in one place at one time. It was more crowded than Orientation, any concert, club, or event I have ever attended. They were all very passionate.
Day 210 - Storage Boxes

It feels like a while since I've had a shot in portrait orientation. This photo is a little messed up because I was trying to cover up a shadow by using the dodge tool on Photoshop. I guess it was better than having the shadow there, but it still looks extremely awkward to me.
I recently cleaned my room and tried to organize. These storage boxes have a large number of things in them. Receipts, key chains, toys, cards, envelopes, letters, bills, warranties, bus schedules, batteries and paper clips are just some of the things you'll find in these boxes.

Day 209 - Everything will be okay

I think everyone goes through a time where they feel overwhelmed and feel like it's impossible to do what needs to be done. You just have to take a breath and know that everything will be okay.
Day 208 - Blue Light Umbrella

I spent a bit of time playing with my flash and my newly bought cactus trigger. It seems like there are so many cool things that can be done. I would like to have more space though. My room is so confining and it's just too cold outside still.
I do not have an actual lighting umbrella just yet. It's coming in the mail. I had to use my actual rain umbrella.

It's been so long since I've had a Big Mac so I thought I could handle it. I'm kind of grossed out with myself right now. I didn't even go swimming this morning because I was too lazy to get up. I'm feeling that these are all bad signs...
On another note, I cleaned my room today. I felt quite accomplished for that at least.

Day 206 - Sheet Texture

I don't like it when I post in a rush. I should try and do my photo of the day earlier in the day. I took a quick photo of my sheets today. It kind of feels like I'm cheating but considering I sometimes use my abstract textures in banners, graphics, and whatnot, it seems okay to do every once in a while.
Day 205 - Confusion

This photo actually makes me a little squeamish. It actually gives me a headache looking at it for too long. I'm in a rush right now, and there are just so many things going on. I guess this may be an accurate photo of what's going on in my life right now.
Day 204 - Design Symposium

I don't usually post this type of "event" photography but I'm racing the clock yet again. Today was a continuation of the 4th Year Engineering Design Symposium Week. I was incredibly fascinated with what some of these people came up with. It just boggles my mind.

I am at my friend's right now and I'm in a bit of a rush since we want to catch a Tuesday movie and so this picture was taken without too much consideration.
Day 202 - Balloon Burst

Today at the UW Photo Club meeting, we did high-speed photography again. I had already taken enough photos of the "liquid movement" so I concentrated more on balloon-popping this time. I'm really happy with how this turned out. It took a while before I was able to catch it but I think it was worth the wait.
Happy Spring everyone!

Day 201 - The Look of Distrust

10:12 PM
The cat I have been feeding came back again. I've taken a lot of photos of this cat. He/she was my photo for Day 50 and Day 96. I have fed this cat so much, you would think it wouldn't be afraid of me. For some reason though, each time I even try to approach the cat, it looks at me with such distrust. I think the cat thinks I want to eat it or something.
Day 200 - Exhaustion

I'm am already at the 200th day! I'm so used to doing this now. I wanted to have a more epic photo for today but I am just so tired. I went to play badminton, swimming, and snowboarding all in one day. I'm going to sleep so well today.
I was sitting in my chair looking to see if there was anything within a 2 meter radius from me and I couldn't find anything in particular. I had to go abstract again.

I went snowboarding again today. My friend and I realized, that it has been exactly a month since we have started snowboarding together. We both bought snowboards and gear (it was so expensive) and we have gone seven times in just four weeks! We have improved dramatically and it has been lots of fun. Tomorrow will probably be the last day we go and then we will have to find another hobby. We have a few in mind already so hopefully we can stay active!
Day 198 - Calm of Nature

10:10 PM
I thought I would share a piece about myself today. When I'm upset, angry, frustrated or down, I go on a walk. I take my music player and my camera with me. I like to get lost and just take the moment to take photos and regain my thoughts. If I'm feeling overwhelmed by my thoughts, I blare out my music and I just sing out loud to it. I do this until I can compose myself and think again. This photo was taken while I was implementing this process.

Today I went to the 2011 Knowledge Integration Museum Exhibition. It had some really neat exhibits. This was part of an exhibit called, "Give Peace a Chance."
Day 196 - Oh CANada

Today at Conestoga Mall, they were displaying the Canstruction 2011 sponsored by the Food Bank. There were some pretty neat structures that people came up with. This one in particular was made by St. George's of Forest Hill Youth Group.
Day 195 - Happy Pi Day!

It's March 14, or as others know it... Pi Day! I went to the Math Building today but didn't really get any crazy pie shots and so I was only able to come up with yet another abstract black and white photo. This was actually a blurred photo of a tissue.
I'm excited for Spring to come! I can go outside again without being afraid of the cold!

Day 194 - Swiss Chalet Perogies

I went to Swiss Chalet today for lunch and with my handy dandy SPC card, I get free perogies. I used to be embarrassed to use coupons and discounts but not at all anymore.
Day 193 - Ski Lift Lingerie

11:33 PM
I am exhausted yet again. I went snowboarding with my friend in Milton today for 10 hours. I didn't know I was capable. I will probably feel a lot of pain in the morning. On the way up to the ski lift, there were random bras and underwear hanging on trees. I thought it was amusing. I only had my compact point and shoot camera because that was all I had room for.
Day 192 - Winter Wonderland Snowman

11:02 PM
Today, we made a snowman at work! We documented it through photos that could potentially be used. It was quite lovely. It's been so long since I've made a snowman.
Day 191 - Scarf

11:21 PM
I'm not having the best today but everyone has bad days every once in a while. This was kind of a lazy shot but I kind of actually like it in a weird way. I bought this scarf from H&M a while ago and I've only used it once or twice.
Day 190 - Art of the World
Posted by

at
11:37 PM
I don't usually do colour selecting, but it almost seemed appropriate for this photo. The colour of the wall and floor was distracting, but I couldn't just make this in black and white. This week is International Celebrations Week at the University of Waterloo and there were these paintings displayed and I just took a quick shot.
Day 189 - Towel Time
Posted by

at
11:35 PM
This didn't come out quite the way I envisioned it. This is a close-up on a towel. I used lens reversing and then blurred a few layers because it looked a bit scary. It still looks a bit scary but it's late in the day and I want to go to bed.
Day 188 - Magnetic Necklace
Posted by

at
10:56 PM
I always feel like necklaces are my "emergency" photos if I can't find anything else to photograph that day. I still have quite a number of necklaces that have never appeared on my stream yet for more emergencies.
It'd be nice for me to go outside for once and take a photo though. Why does it have to be so cold still?

Day 187 - Tortellini Dinner

I've been taking a lot of photos of food lately. It seems like I've already taken a photo of everything else. I went snowboarding today and I was hoping to get some photos for that but it's hard. I don't want to fall and break my camera since I'm still learning. I got a some ridiculous wind burn though and it feels like my face is burning.
Day 185 - It's All a Blur
Posted by

8:21 PM
I used my digital point and shoot camera today. The DSLR is too far away and I'm a bit exhausted, as always. I don't really know where I was going with this photo but I figured if I blurred the keyboard enough, it would look "abstract" like pretty much all my other photos.
I am looking forward to taking less abstract, more "landscape" and focused photos in the future. Until then, you shall be seeing more random abstract-like photos.
Day 184 - Starbucks Tumbler Pattern

This is the tumbler I use almost everyday. I remember thinking it was ridiculously expensive. It was about $20 when I first bought it at Starbucks but if I amortize the use of it, it's only been a few cents a day.
As you can see, it's a bit scratched up right now. I might be needing a new one at some point but I think I'm actually attached to this now.

Today the Federation of Students (Waterloo's student government) hosted a "Volunteer Extravaganza". They had lots of food, prizes and entertainment. A new club called, "UW Spin and Flow" were one of the entertainers. I was quite amused. They make for some pretty wicked photos. Plus, I have no idea how they do it, and anything I can't figure out is really amusing to me.
Day 182 - It's So Fluffy I'm Gonna Die!

The photo title is actually a reference to the movie "Despicable Me". It was such an adorable movie. I wish I was able to take advantage of cheap Tuesday movies but I'm so behind right now.
This is a "Pillow Pet" that I was given for Christmas. If you can't tell, it's a penguin. There are some pretty harsh shadows because of a direct flash. I really should do some reading on lighting.
