I finally splurged. I told myself I would an iPod Touch a while ago, but then it turns out that Apple was going to release the new iPod Touch and so I waited. It felt like I waited so long but today I went to Future Shop and they were finally in stock. I bought the 32gb one and I'll probably be taking advantage of the camera and using it for this project 365 every once in a while. I think my wallet is hurting a little bit but it will recover in time.
It's been a month! I have successfully taken a photo everyday for a month. I have quite enjoyed it and I hope that I can keep up the rest of the year. I'm kind of running out of things to take a photo of in my room. My room has been kind of turned upside down though. As you can see from this photo my desk could really use a clean up.

Today was the first photo club meeting. You just learn so much around other people. I hope I will be able to be an active member and go to the majority of the meetings. I know the next few months are going to be pretty demanding in terms of academic but I'll try to make room for photographic stress relief.

I decided to take a photo outside today. This was just a leaf in my backyard. I think I should try to take more nature/flower photos before the winter comes. I have noticed that for most of my photos I have been using an aperture size of f/1.8 and as much as I love the "blurred focus" look, I should eventually get some photos with a smaller aperture size. I'll keep that in mind for future photos.
Day 27 - Plastic Water Bottles

It's a hectic Monday again. I have been applying for jobs all day so all I could find are these ironic plastic bottles that belong to my friend who studies for the Faculty of Environment. I don't think I really understand the concept of plastic water bottles. They're so heavy to carry a case around, they cost money, and they aren't very good for our environment. I read somewhere that they banned the sale of water bottles at Ottawa campus. I think that actually might be a good idea.
Day 26 - Orange Paper Clips

The weird thing out of focus is actually paper clip dispenser. I'm starting to run out of interesting things in my room to showcase so I guess I will just have to think a little more creatively for me to get the rest of my 339 shots. I think when I'm done all my readings, assignments and applying for a co-op job I'll do some reading on photography and try a few new techniques. Anyone have a book to recommend?

I'm pretty exhausted. I spent a lot of my day updating my webpage and it was tiring to revisit my HTML days. Hopefully I will eventually be able to be more advanced and make a website rather than a webpage.
My photo today is just of my rainbow ice cream that I bought a few days ago. I probably should have put in more effort today but I'll shift that to another day.

I posted my Pala-chan mouse on my Day 8 and so I figured I would post my other mouse. I bought this one online for less than $10 from a site called dealextreme.com and there was free shipping too. My favourite animals are penguins and so of course I could not resist. They are very fascinating creatures. I once considered being an ornithologist/scientist that studied penguins in Antarctica. I retracted my thoughts due to the severe coldness that I don't think I'd be able to fight.

I spent a lot of time today trying to decide what to take a photo of today. I eventually started just throwing things around and tried to get some sort of abstract blurry photo of an item. Can you guess what this is a photo of?

When I came home today there was a spider near the side of my house. It looked pretty huge but it's hard to zoom in and focus. It seems our house is full of bugs everywhere. I'm not sure whether or not I should be concerned but since winter is nearby I guess it's not that big of a deal.
Day 21 - I Scream for Ice Cream

I'm glad I actually put a little bit of thought in today's photo. As a student, I deal with stressful times with ice cream. It's probably not the healthiest way to cope but it's certainly fun. I can't help but really love the packaging that the ice cream is in and it's considerably cheap as well. I think I will try to "collect" the rest or something.
Day 20 - Exit This Way

I had classes all day again and got home at about 9:00 PM. I didn't have much motivation to search for outstanding photo so today I have a photo of the exit sign that I notice every night. Apparently it's a security measure for houses that are rented out to a certain number of people so that people are aware of where the exits are in the case of emergency. I'm not sure I completely see the use in it though, considering everyone that ever comes into our houses always knows where the exits are, but I'm sure it's been useful before and that's why it's there.

I spent most of my day "studying" today. By that I mean sitting in my room staring at a screen and not really taking anything in. It's a better attempt than I usually put in though. I took a lot of "breaks" and made a lot of food because it seemed like an acceptable distraction.
For dinner I made tacos and it actually tasted alright. I was going to take a photo of that today but it tasted better than it looked so today's just a photo of the spice rack we have in our kitchen.

The Physical Activities Complex (PAC) at our school has this room called the bouldering wall where people can use for just $7 a term which is a pretty good deal if you use it enough. Unfortunately for me, I do not have "climbing shoes" and it makes it a lot more difficult and so I think I won't attempt it this term, especially since I have lots of school related stuff to worry about before I decide to do the extracurricular activities.
Speaking of extracurricular activities, I must admit that I am quite excited for the photography club to start again at our school. For some reason, it creates a lot of motivation for me. I hope there will be more improvements in my photography.

This week was the first week of class. I am just not used to school again and after only a few classes I feel like I'm already behind. I guess I will have to make this weekend dedicated to catching up.
I have to admit that I actually don't really like the photo I took for today but laziness kind of got the best of me. I didn't really feel like leaving my chair and I feel like this pile of books somehow describe how I'm feeling.

Day 16 - Disjointed

Today kind of felt like a non-stop day. I woke up early and went to go train the new co-op student for a few hours. I miss scanning photos from the 1950s and century-old diaries. It sort of gave me a strange feeling that I was "connected" to the past or something. I also bought my textbooks today and I'm about half a grand poorer because of that. Textbooks are just so expensive. I guess it's something that everyone has to deal with so I'm not alone at least. It just feels so unfair to change students $35 for a "case study" book with 20 pages in it.
The photo today is of an interesting art piece in Needles Hall of the University of Waterloo. I had a few other photos that I was going to use for today but I guess this is just more appropriate because I feel pretty much disjointed and this piece is pretty abstract.

I'm really close to being late for today's update too. This is a really cool brain teaser that my friend bought from Hong Kong. It took me a good 15 minutes and it made me feel a little unintelligent to be honest... I eventually got it though. It was really good entertainment though.
Afterwards, we went to McDonalds to go for a late night snack. The background to this photo is actually the table of McDonalds.

I must admit that I have been a little lazy with the Project 365 lately. Everything's a little hectic and so I haven't been putting too much time with taking photos, post processing or posting. I'll try to put more effort later.
This is a photo of my dinner today. It was a pretty early dinner. I'm not a very good cook... in fact that is a very large understatement. I have been living off microwave food throughout university and I'm just slowly trying to emerge out of it.

Today, classes started for the first time this term. I have a pretty packed schedule on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays but my Tuesday and Thursday is pretty free. It's only been four months since I was on a school term but it already feels so long ago. I have already forgotten a lot of the stuff I should have remembered and I suppose a lot of review is necessary.
I took this photo this morning in the shed of my backyard. It's a pretty big shed, and my friends have speculated that it was big enough to rent out if it was legal. I'm not sure why there were so many mattresses in the shed but it was certainly amusing.

Orientation Week is over now. It's been quite exciting. They were giving away buttons and people were collecting them. I'm missing a green, turquoise, and purple but I'm okay with that.
I am almost late for today's posting. I hope I don't miss it anytime soon. It's been less than two weeks. Anyways, tomorrow is when school starts again so I'll be adjusting. I have class from 11:30 am until 6:20 pm with only ten minutes between every class. It's going to be very interesting.

Today's weather has been magnificent today. I was close to just taking another product shot of something I had but it felt necessary to do something outdoors. I wanted to take a creative shot today but I guess I did not have it in me. I went with minimalistic instead.
It's nearing the end of Orientation Week and school's about to start. I better get on back-to-school shopping and grocery shopping.

Today I wore these outside and a lot of people thought these shoes were interesting and strange. I bought these shoes at an art show for about $25. I thought it was a great deal. It's funny, because the show lasted the whole weekend and the first day I did not buy them. I returned the next day and decided it was very necessary that I bought the shoes and so now I own them. They are Alice in Wonderland themed if you haven't figured that out already.
I know this is another product shot and I probably should have done something interesting and creative with the photo but I figured the item itself was interesting already. Plus, I wanted to take a picture of these shoes before one day I wear them out and they won't be as colourful and "clean" anymore.

I think internet may be set up today but since I was a little unsure I went to the university anyways. I am currently at Tim Hortons and I didn't have many interesting things except my little seal mouse. I always have a lot of people asking me where I got it and the answer always surprises them. I bought it at Wal-Mart. I hope today will be a relaxing day. I feel like I've been non-stop lately.
Day 7 - Starbucks

I am currently at Starbucks again and this would be the photo of the drink I am having today. I was supposed to find something to take a photo of on my way here, but I really couldn't find anything. I knew that eventually I'd have a photo of a Starbucks drink, but I was hoping it would be a little more artistic. I guess it works to help remind me of how my day was like though.
Our house should be getting internet tomorrow morning, but I'd still like to come visit regularly because I really do like the environment here. The drinks all have an aesthetic touch to them and it's just so interesting here.
On another note, Orientation Week is so tiring. There is just so much cheering! It's so much fun though!

Day 6 - Fall Approaches

The extent of my exhaustion cannot be explained. Yesterday and today, first years moved in and all the Orientation leaders had to help move them in. Those frosh have a LOT of stuff. Afterwards, I was hunting a picture for today and it was quite difficult for me to think creatively again. I just saw these interesting leaves that were changing colours and I figured that they were sufficient.
It's almost sad that summer is ending but it's inevitable so I think I'll just accept the fact that seasons change and embrace the coming change and all that it brings. The only word that comes to mind is: rain. It's currently raining right now and I don't think it will stop anytime soon. Oh well, soon I'll be wishing for rain as opposed to the dreaded snow.

I am uploading pretty early today because I am not sure how today is going to progress. I took a few other pictures on the way here and I think I'll upload them onto my flickr later today too. I feel like I'm always rushed now, but I will soon settle down and everything will be calm again.
While I was looking at the EXIF data of my photos, I realized that the date was incorrect in my camera. It was one day behind, but I fixed it and the rest of the photos from now on should have the correct date in it. I think I will spend the rest of time on the internet uploading to flickr.

Orientation Week is quickly approaching! It's going to be even more hectic to try and take photos and upload while having no internet at home and being busy everyday with Orientation. I think this will be good for me though.
I tried being a little more "creative" with my photo today but with a time barrier of about 20 minutes I only found my necklace stand. I think it made for a semi-interesting photo though. It's funny because just about a year ago, I didn't own any necklaces at all. I go through some crazy fads sometimes.

Day 3 - There's a method to my madness

I read Shakespeare's Hamlet in high school but to be honest I had not recalled the line, "Though this be madness yet there is a method in it" which is where the expression in the title is originated from.
Today, I finished unpacking all my stuff and cleaning up everything. I thought I would take a picture of this shelving unit that is "partly" unorganized. I figured in a few weeks (or even days) it would be even more messy and would be less photogenic.
The crop of this photo is kind of strange because it's not very photogenic outside these three shelves. It's hard to describe exactly what the furniture piece looks like, but I figured eventually I will take a picture of the whole shelving unit and it'd make more sense visually than me trying to explain it.
I organized these shelves in interesting categories: Photography, Music and Academics
I wanted to make sure that I knew where to find all my cameras, film and other miscellaneous things when I'm on the run so sticking them all together seemed like a good idea. The music section is kind of ridiculous though. I have a habit of buying more of things I already have. For the second shelf, you should be able to see multiple ear buds, headphones and mp3 players. I feel like it's overkill... but I just can't help it sometimes. The academics shelf is kind of self-explanatory.
I am again at Starbucks enjoying a Passion Shaken Iced Tea. I don't know if I'll be able to stand not having internet at home much longer. I must say I do enjoy the experience though. One day I'll take a photo of a Starbucks drink. It's very cliché but it seems necessary.

Day 2 - "Real discoveries come from chaos"

9:25 PM
The title is a quote from Chuck Palahniuk. Today was hectic. I have just moved into my new house and I have spent the day with my family running around getting last minute items. We went to FOUR different stores to find a tower fan. We went to Zellers, Wal-Mart, Home Depot and finally Canadian Tires. It seems like the first years have are moving in have wiped out the inventories of all these stores.
To be honest, I almost failed the Project 365 already. My new house does not have internet set up so I had to walk to Starbucks. It was a good 20-30 minute walk and I almost decided not to do it but I figured that failing on the second day way be kind of embarrassing.
Anyways, this photo is a snapshot of one of my four suitcases that I have to unpack. This one has more of the "miscellaneous and random" stuff in it. As you can see, it's kind of all over the place and not very organized.
This photo isn't too artistic due to all the craziness taking over my creativity but there are a few interesting things in this photo. I'm just going to list a bunch of random things. Try to see if you can spot them!
I spy: Disderi Robot Style Camera, cow CD holder, bingo dabber, switch pitch, acorn MP3 player, mini tripod, Wacom Bamboo tablet and mouse, Black's 35mm film, lego earphones, Winnie the Pooh Uno, photo album, bike lock

Day 1 - Time to Grow

I have finally decided to start my 365 project. I have put it off for a while in fear of failing but I have finally decided I'll give it a shot.
This is a shot of one of the "melons" that my father grows in our backyard. My father really enjoys gardening and we have so many vegetables in our garden including tomatoes, corn, beans and spinach. I had a lot of trouble deciding what my "first shot" should be but I decided on this because I wanted to make a strange analogy of how I wanted to "grow" through this project. It's quite the bad pun, I know.
I also figured today would be a good day to start because I'm moving to a new house again (I'm quite nomadic due to university). It feels like I'm starting "fresh" again. I will see where I end up in a year.
